about the name

A settlement, not a single tool.

Kitsoki (kit-soh-kee) is a Hopi word for a contemporary settlement — houses, ceremonial chambers, and public plazas arranged into one living whole. That's the shape we're building toward: many surfaces, one architecture, one place they all live.

The mark is the Mesa Sun — a desert sun rising over a terraced dwelling, drawn from the architecture of Ancestral Puebloan cliff settlements. It stays deliberately in the register of architecture and light — no ceremonial or sacred imagery, which carries real cultural weight that isn't ours to borrow.

A small nod to the Chacoan ancestors of today's Pueblo peoples, whose astronomy — solstice light through the Sun Dagger at Fajada Butte, great houses aligned to the 18.6-year lunar standstill — still holds up today.
